breaking the hush

Today is the anniversary of a 13 year friendship I have had with one of the greatest men I know. It was our first day of college and a meeting that would change my life forever. The earliest parts of my relationship with the Lord were guided by this man—who was just a teenager at the time, wise beyond his years. Over the next months and years, he poured into me everything he knew—most importantly, he taught me how to love selflessly as Jesus would! He showed me how to listen to the Lord, how to really hear Him and most significantly, obey Him. Once, I remember Him saying that he thought somehow God was always speaking, but we weren’t always listening. There are so many things that he gave me that are vital to my spirituality today and that I still, 13 years later, speak into men that I mentor. His passion for others is contagious. He poured into others expecting them to succeed in all areas of life even surpassing himself.
